The average person downloads 0 apps a month, and when they do, they are downloading the apps from companies that are well established.

The mobile app market has matured. People don’t care to spend the time on figuring out if a mobile app will add value to them.

The entrepreneurial era of mobile apps is over.

Mobile app ideas have a tough uphill battle to starting a business. The best use case is for an already functioning business to take advantage of the mobile app market.

Where should bleeding edge entrepreneurs look now for their pursuits if mobile apps are no longer a wide open field? Artificial Intelligence? Blockchain? Machine Learning? Cloud Computing?

AI is quickly turning into a social benefit technology with leading companies like OpenAI.

The consensus among experts in the field is that advancements in AI should be open for everyone. As an entrepreneur this is bad news.

The rapid and open expansion of the technology means little room for an entrepreneur to set themselves apart from the competition. Anything that is developed, that is ahead of the curve, will become obsolete nearly instantaneously.

It’s now relatively free of charge to exchange value with the blockchain, and free of charge to verify data. There may be other use cases and definitely a need for work to be done, but the field will no longer expand with advancements in technology.

Machine Learning will be dominated by larger companies. It’s no wild wild west. There is a goal of machine learning and the company with the largest and best engineers will be able to reach that goal before any entrepreneurs.

Cloud computing is a business of scale. The larger you are, the better and cheaper services you can provide. The only way to get into this market would be to come up with a service so advanced that it can’t be copied by any of the giants working to take advantage of this market.

Every advancement in technology is getting swallowed by the trillion dollar tech companies. This will continue with every new advancement in tech.

The next big thing for entrepreneurs is going to be robotics.

It’s estimated that in 15 years, 40% of jobs will be taken over by AI.

Innovation in robotics has been relatively stagnant for a long time. Modern advancements in AI changes that.

Using a comparison of why we currently use robotics in building cars, but not in serving coffee.

With the advancements in AI, robots are able to understand that a coffee cup needs to be gripped less hard than an aluminum piece of a car. It will be able to navigate itself around a coffee shop. In a car manufacturing facility the robots are either on tracks or stationary.

The AI for these robots is being built and is advancing rapidly.

You can buy a robot dog right now if you wanted to. These robots are going to be easily programmable just like mobile apps, and that is where the next era of entrepreneurship will begin.

There will be no need to program the AI or Computer Vision, you will simply be able to write a 1 liner “dog.pickupCoffee()” and it will pickup the coffee. The amount of different jobs a one armed robot could take over is staggering. Warehouse workers, construction sign holders, maybe even some simple mundane construction work. Fast food workers, inventory stockers…

As technology progresses, robots will become more precise and start to take over advanced jobs. There will be restaurants where the head chef is a robot programmed well enough to make it’s one of a kind specialty meal.

Robotics with the modern technological advancements of AI is a wide open field that will only expand as technology advances.
